City Tour Cusco

Cusco is today one of the fascinating destinations in Peru, well known for the enormous amount of important archaeological remains and tour activities. Walking through the city is a journey through the history of one of the most developed cultures in the Americas. In the day it is a colorful city with red roofs, colonial temples, and houses, friendly people; during the night bars, clubs, and pubs give this city a very special international flavor.

Day 1

Cusco city, once capital of the Incan empire, then main place for Peru’s colonization offers a bunch of alternative way to enjoy it. Its pre-Columbian remains shows the magnificent Incan constructions, palaces, temples, aqueducts, and megalithic constructions such as Saqsayhuaman; are just some of the few examples that we will show you.

To explore them, we will visit the four ruins uphill near Cusco city.

In the morning at 8:30 am we drive to Tambomachay, where we will visit a small Inca site and water spring a site where Incas took out important ceremonies and worshiped the liquid element, vital for agriculture and consumption; near Tambomachay is Pukapukara, from where you will see the mountains are surrounding Cusco valley, after that, we continue on to Qenqo, visiting a stone altar where Inca priest took out ritual practices, finally we will discover Saqsayhuaman to admire its megalithic constructions. From Saqsayhuaman, we will drive down to Cusco’s main square, where we will visit the Cathedral considered as an art museum for it invaluable collection of paintings made by Andean people in the XVI century, we will end the city tour visiting Qoricancha, the Sun temple of Incas.
