Today Cusco city is well known for its archeological attractions, among all of them, Machu Picchu the most outstanding Inca city, raised upon the mountains in the Vilcanota Valley.

Day 1
Well come to Cusco

We will pick you up at the airport, the transfer will be in a private car to the hotel in downtown of the city, on the way the guide will give you some instructions about the city. The first day in Cusco could be unfavorable for you, cause we will be at 3.400m / 10.800ft. Therefore today will be an acclimating day. At your hotel, you will taste Coca tea, which will help you to acclimate faster. The transfer will give some basic instructions in case you want to explore the town later on, after some break in your hotel room, consider explore the downtown, in case you have any question, our representative will be in contact with you to let you know about the program and everything necessary before you start you adventure the following days.

Day 2
City Tour

Today we will start the tour in the morning, as it is not usual visiting first we will take you to an amazing Inca temple ( Qoricancha) where still remains the perfect construction of Inca period still standing after two big earthquakes, from Cusco city, we will drive to the upper part of Cusco, toward Sacsayhuaman, where you will appreciate an extraordinary site, compound by walls made of enormous stones up to 80 tons weight, and several foundations of buildings from those that once were important Incan residences, five minutes driving from here is Qenqo, a ceremonial site where took place mummification in caverns sculpted underground, finally, from Qenqo we will drive to visit Pukapucara and the last one Tambomachay, the water shrine. After exploring all sites, we will drive you back to Cusco downtown and drop you off at your hotel.

Day 3
Rainbow Mt Expedition

Today, our adventure begins very early. At 3:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel, we leave Cusco driving about 3.5 hours to get the trailhead of our trek where we will start our adventure on the way we will stop in Pitumarka village where we will have our breakfast.

To get to see the Rainbow Mountain, we will hike upwards for 2 hours from Chillca Valley at 3,700 m / 12,139 ft. to the summit at 5,200m / 17.060ft approx. The trek starts with a gentle uphill by then get some steep sections, but this will not be as difficult hike because we will take our time enjoying the surrounding views of the valley, rugged red mountains, snow-capped mountains, as well as llamas and alpacas from local wandering around the hills.

Day 4
Sacred Valley

Today we leave at 7:30 am, we will drive first to Awanacancha a traditional weaving center, where you will be able to appreciate the Andean camelids such us Llamas, Alpacas, Vicunas, and Guanacos. Afterward, we continue driving to Pisaq, the first Inca site located upon one of the Mountains in the valley, this will take 30 minutes from the village which has the same name. Pisaq is an archeological complex made up of large terraces for agriculture, Incan residences, water fountains, pathways, and more. After the guided tour we will drive to Urubamba town for lunch, we will enjoy a buffet service typical food, after our delicious lunch, we will continue to Ollantaytambo, where we will visit the formidable Inca site, surrounded by Mountains, and valleys. You will have a guided tour exploring around at the ruins. From Ollantaytambo, we will go to the last archeological site called Chincero, an Inca site and a small town, where families still keep the old traditions to make textiles, we will have the chance to visit one of those families. Afterward, we will drive toward Cusco, arriving around 6:30 pm, we will drop you off at the hotel.

Day 5
Maras - Moray - Salineras

Today is an exciting day, we will leave Cusco at 8:30 am, driving toward the Maras town, we will still explore part of the sacred valley, its amazing views of the Mountains, farmlands, villages.

After 1.5 hours driving, we will arrive at the fascinating display of circular terraces in Moray. These terraces, which are carved deep into the earth in a bowl shape, were used to improve the optimal conditions of seed for all crops in the region.

When we are done exploring Moray, we will head to the Salineras of Maras, the salt ponds, which is about 2 miles away. Maras was the village known as a former salt production center, that is thought to date back to pre-Inca times. There are over 3000 salt small ponds all carved on the mountainside, being filled daily by a little stream of salty water. If you want to see something really different from ruins, this is your tour! The area is amazing and spectacularly beautiful.

Afterward, we will drive to Ollantaytambo where we will spend the night in the hotel near the train station.

Day 6
Inka Trail 1st Day

Between 5:00 and 5:30 am, we pick you up at your hotel in Ollantaytambo, we will drive you in a private bus toward Km 82 or Piskacuchu (2,700 m.a.s.l), the starting point of the Inca trail, after we show our passport at the control point, we will have 2.5 hours trekking to arrive at Miskay village (2.800 m.a.s.l) where we will take a break and get some water supply, then we continue to have our first Lunch at Hatun chaca, in the afternoon, after a small break, we will continue, to reach a lookout point from where we will see the spectacular view of the valley and Patallacta Inca city (2,750 m.a.s.l). After a background information, We continue trekking along the Kusichaca Valley to Wayllabamba the to the camp site at Ayapata where we will spend the night, our porters and chef will be cheering our arrival. Later on tea time and dinner will be served.

Day 7
Inka Trail 2nd Day

We wake up at around 5:30 am, and after breakfast, we leave Ayapata to begin the most difficult part of the trek, which consists of an abrupt and steep ascent that stretches for 6 km. Along the way, we will see the landscape changes from sierra to puna (dry and high area with little vegetation). until we reach to the first mountain pass, Warmihuañusca (the Dead woman´s pass) at 4.215 m.a.s.l. from here we will see the spectacular views of the highest peaks and valleys on both sides, after a brief break and some pictures, we head down for two hours to Pacaymayo valley (3.600 m.a.s.l), where we will enjoy our lunch, in the afetrnoon we will continue towards Rukurakay pass at 3.970, then to the campsite. On the way we will visit some impresive archeoligical site we will have plenty of time for a brief explanation and exploration, we will reach our campsite after approx 10 hours of trekking.

Day 8
Inka Trail 3th Day

Today is the shortest, also the most impressive and interesting part of the adventure, due to the number of archaeological sites. From Chakicocha we will hike literally over the mountains, surrounding the cliff part of the inca trail towards Phuyupatamarca, at 3.700 m.a.s.l. Today’s hike is one of the most complete and best-preserved stone pavement Inca Trail. we continue to our lunch spot at Winayhuayna also place where we will spend the 3rd night.

Day 9
Inka Trail - Machu Picchu discovery

On the last day of our adventure, we will dicover Machu Picchu citadel, so after an early breakfast we leave the campsite. 5:30 am to hike towards Intipunku at 2.723 m.a.s.l, from where we will have the first views of Machu Picchu Inca citadel. Until this point, we would be trekking about 42 km from the starting point, arriving to the citadel your trekking guide will show you the proper way to start the tour, it will be two hours guided and exploring the most important part of the citadel, ater the tour tke the bus down to Aguas Calientes town for your Lunch, the take the train which will take you back to Ollantaytambo, where our tranfer will pick you up to take you in a private van to Cusco city. we will drop you off at your hotel.

Day 10
Flight Back to Lima

Today depending on the time of your flight, we will pick you up at the hotel to the airport, we must be two hours ahead of the departure time, we hope there won’t be any inconvenient on your flight.

  • Note: Please note that the estimated time to start your guided tour of the Machu Picchu Citadel is between (6:30 am - 7 am), it could last from 2 or 2.5 hours.However, this might be delayed due to the pace of the group and weather issues. Therefore, there is a risk of having to leave your guided tour half way to be able to make it on time for your climb to either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Likewise, keep in mind that the trek up to the mountain is not suggested for people with problems with vertigo or who are afraid of heights.

Students: Those who have the valid ISIC card, in the event that you book under a student rate with this benefit, you will need to bring the original card (not a copy) to show it at the control points throughout the Inca trail. If the card is not shown, you will be denied entry to Inca Trail as the permits purchased for you won’t be valid anymore.
Children: Between 7 and 17 years (at the start of the trek) pay the student rate, however, they must show a copy of their passports.
Children under 7 years: They have a 30% discount.
Members of the South American Explorers: Receive USD10.00 discount.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the discounts ONLY apply for the 5 D  Inca Trail service.


Due to the strict regulations established by Machu Picchu Park, once you have made your booking, the space and permit that has been purchased cannot be cancelled. It is also impossible to transfer the permit to someone else under a different name, and the date of your permit can not be modified either. Therefore, if you are not able to arrive on the scheduled date, No refunds can be done.

Permits are not refundable, Kuntur Peru tour agency will purchase the permits as soon as the confirmation of the booking is sent to you.

To consider:

♦ If you cancel the booking between 3 to 1 month before the start of your trip; you will be required to pay 50% of the total cost.
♦ If you cancel the booking between 4 to 2 weeks before the start of your trip; you will be required to pay 80% of the total cost.
♦ If you cancel the booking between 6 to 2 days before the start of your trip; you will be required to pay 100% of the total cost.

In the event that you decide to withdraw from the trek once it has started, you will be responsible for all additional charges such as food, extra accommodation, and transport that might occur because of the modification of your itinerary. However, you can join the group again for the visit to Machu Picchu citadel and the use of the same services onwards.

In the event that you decide to cancel the trip due to a health issue or personal problem; the above cancellation policies will be applied as the company had already incurred in administrative and logistic expenses for your trek.

Due to its regulation and In order to protect the Historical sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Each day is allowed to 500 people on the Classic Inca Trail, those including porters, guides, and other support staff.

It is expected trekkers to carry their own personal gear, however, they should make an honest assessment of their physical condition. If a personal porter is desired, it is important to request one at the time of booking, as they are included in the 500 people per day limit.

To secure a permit and entrance ticket to classic Inca trail, Wayna Picchu Mt, and Machu Picchu, consider Peruvian government regulations require full name and current passport information of all trekkers, permits are non-transferable, it can’t be sold to others and can be sold out quickly months in advance. It is, therefore, important to arrange the reservation dates at the earliest opportunity.

Wayna Picchu Mountain is an excellent addition for a trip to Machu Picchu. It offers great views but is a steep climb that can take about two and a half hours back and forth.

The admission tickets to Wayna Picchu Mountain are limited and only at scheduled times. If you are considering doing the climb, make sure to book it in advance. The classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu can be a challenging hike, there are lots of stone steps and steep uphills that could make you feel tired at the end.

If you wish to trek to Machu Picchu, but you don’t have the time, either enough energy to do the whole 4-days trek, you must consider our alternate options or the short version “Inca trail 2d / 1n”. These can be booked any time in the year, with no advance reservation.
