Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley - 1 Day

The Rainbow Mountain is a new destination in Cusco region, famous for its colorful composition of sedimentary stones which give the characteristic color to the surrounding mountains, these sediments were formed millions of year ago due to volcanic eruptions, nowadays is possible to explore in a different ways, one day trip, 2 days trekking, and 4 days trekking tour with camping.

This alternative trek will take you to the high Andes south of Cusco city, explore astonishing valleys, lagoons, Ausangate snow-capped mountain (the highest peak in Cusco region).

Day 1

For this one day adventure, we will pick you up from your hotel early at 3:30 am. It is about 3.5 hours driving to the starting point. Along the road, we will see amazing views of the Andes until reaching the trailhead for this trek. Before we begin the trek, after a good box breakfast, we start the adventure from Lloqta in Cusipata Valley at 3,700 m/12,139 ft. It will be a 2.5 hour uphill to reach the lookout point of Rainbow Mountain. On our way, we will enjoy amazing views of the Andes mountain range, glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, as well as llamas and alpacas grazing along the valley.

From the top we will see what we were seeking, the Rainbow Mountain, Ausangate glacier (The tallest in the Cusco region, raised up until 21,000 ft.); after some time on top enjoying the views, the guide will take to for a hike around the mountain to the red valley where you will see the other side of the rainbow mountain passing through colorful hillsides, trekking downhill to the lunch place, in the afternoon we catch our private van and drive back to Cusco city.

The estimated time to reach Cusco is about 4 pm, we will leave at your hotel.
